Micrometering valves have very low internal volume and are ideal for use as a gas control valve inside the flow path of chromatographic systems. With a special design and precision machining, they combine the easy connection of VICI zero dead volume fittings with convenient bulkhead mounting.
Fine-control valve models operate at 2-175 ml/min at 15 psig Nitrogen (inlet). Low flow valves operate at 2-90 ml/min at 40 psig Nitrogen (inlet). Dual outlet versions eliminate the need for a tee in some applications.
Both lubricated and non-lubricated versions are available with a VitonⓇ seal (rated at 225°C), and a non-lubricated version with a Kalrez™ seal (capable of continuous operation at 315°C). These materials allow a needle valve to be mounted directly within a heated oven, facilitating flow switching control in multidimensional systems while keeping the gases at oven temperature.
The unlubricated versions feature a highly polished seat designed for use with VICI pulsed discharge detectors (PDD); these should only be used upstream of any ultrapure gas system. All VICI micrometering valves are rated for a maximum of 1000 psi gas, and are individually tested on a mass spectrometer leak detector to a helium leak rate specification of < 1 x 10-8 atm cc/sec.
The standard model has 1/16" ZDV fittings with one or two outlets. There is also a single-outlet version with 1/16" x 18" tubes. Versions with up to six outlet ports are available on special order; contact technical support for information.
Micrometering valves are not designed for complete flow shut-off. If a positive shut-off is required, we recommend using a combo valve(Product #) that is designed with a separate knob to shut off the flow without affecting the flow rate setting.
