Cheminert® Multi-Position Injection/Selection Valves

For superior flow path control, VICI’s CheminertⓇ collection of multi-position injection/selection valves have a flat-plate design. They provide a wide range of options for number of ports and positions, fitting sizes, ID/OD, and configuration to suit an array of applications:

  • UHPLC Selection Valves - available in NanovolumeⓇ (100-150 μm) and microbore (250 μm) bore sizes, these valves are ideal for high speed, high-throughput nano HPLC techniques, with proprietary rotor and stator materials that can achieve pressures up to 20,000 psi in some models. 
  • HPLC Stream and Column Selection Valves - Available in NanovolumeⓇ (100-150 μm) bore with 360 micron fittings, and analytical (0.40 mm) bore size for use with 1/16” ZDV fittings. These flat plate valves include 4, 6, 8, and 10-port versions They operate up to 5,000 psi.
  • Low Pressure Selection Valves - this line can switch between up to 26 streams, offering valves with 4, 6, 8, 10, and in some cases 12, and 14 ports. Fitting sizes include 1/16” ZDV fittings; ¼-28 fittings for 1/16” or ⅛” tubing; or ½-20 fittings for ¼ tubing.

All our injection valve models are operable with manual or automated (pneumatic or electric) actuators and come with fittings made of material compatible with their construction

VICI’s valves are known for their reliability, easy maintenance, and flexible configuration options. 

Also known under the name Cheminert, the flat-plate design of our mult-position valves provides flexible use options. Typically, 6-port valves with external loops are used for sample injection and thus referred to as “injectors”. However,VICI 6 port valves can do more than inject sample; they and our 8-, and 10-port valves can be sample injectors at the same time they’re also being backflushers or column switchers. 

The Cheminert design involves a flat rotor which is engraved with slots to connect the ports and a stator which is held against the rotor at a constant, preset force. When repairs are required, the user can simply remove two or three screws, replace the rotor, put the screws back in and tighten them. No adjustments are possible, much less required. Other advantages of the design include easy panel mounting, low actuating torque, and compact size.
