This is an eight-port W-style sampling/switching valve with 1/16” fittings and 0.016” (0.4 mm) bore.
It is made of N60 stainless steel, a metal that offers chemical resistance similar to Type 316 stainless, but its resistance to galling and oxidation makes it superior to Type 316 or 303 in the majority of applications. The valve also includes stainless steel nuts and ferrules. The rotor is made from Valcon T, a polyaryletherketone/PTFE composite ideal for medium-temperature GC applications.
The valve can be used at pressures up to a maximum of 300 psi at temperatures from 250°–350°C.

The rotor material in these valves sometimes develops a tendency to stick, making the valve difficult to turn. (This usually occurs at lower temperatures.) In extreme cases, the valve doesn't position accurately, and the valve and rotor can be damaged. Technical Note 201 contains instructions for reconditioning the material if this occurs.

GC valves usually require a standoff - an extension between the valve and actuator which allows the valve to be mounted in the heated zone while the actuator or handle remains outside at ambient temperature.
